Why You Should Stop Hiding Your Imperfections

Scripture and virtually all of history have shown us that if there is one thing we have most in common with every other human being, it’s our sinful nature. No one is perfect, not by a long shot.

Yet, usually we let other’s sins define them–and divide us–when in fact we are all sinners in need of the same Savior. We’re all dying, literally, and in need of rescue.
We’re just alike.

Let your redemption show. Don’t hide the forgiveness and changes that you’re experiencing in Christ.

When we can be honest about where we’re at in our own lives, and our own spiritual need, it also gives others the permission to do the same.

We and Us and I

Do you struggle with a certain attitude or sin in your life? Don’t hide that from others, especially if you see they have similar challenges. It’s a good place to start of a conversation about an issue by admitting your own weaknesses.

Have you experienced forgiveness for past sin, hurts and pain? Revel in that! Don’t pretend it never happened, or that moving past the issue is somehow due to your amazing willpower and strength. Give God the credit due and give others hope that he can do the same in their life.

Are you waking up to new truths and insights from God and his Word? We don’t have to act like we have all the answers or have a lock on all biblical truth. None of us were born with this knowledge and we don’t have to pretend that we were. Let others know that you are definitely a work in progress and God is still at work teaching and changing you.

If we stop pretending that we have all the answers and that our lives are perfect, we can also drop the need to win the argument, fix everyone or close the deal on their salvation.

Something shifts–in our hearts and in our interactions with others when we take this posture.

The Pressure Is Off!

For you.

For them.

And by the way, I’m talking about with other believers too, not just with non-Christians.

The next best time to let your redemption show is now. You’ll breath a sigh of needed relief, and others will feel safer around you.
