Life in Community on Mission: The Glorious Mess

There is no such thing as a typical week in the rhythms of a missional community. Healthy communities follow pretty surprisingly simple patterns. And the schedules of the families are not crazy packed and insanely busy.

In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, I’ll share a running narrative from the daily journals of a married father in a missional community. You’ll get to see all of the “organized” and “organic” interactions that come up in their calendar as a family on mission for one week. Oh, it’s messy… but it’s a glorious mess!

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

    • How a married couple with three kids lives on mission together.
    • The gospel-intentionality that is baked into their normal life.
    • How living this way in community adds very little to their normal schedules.
    • A great picture of discipleship in action in everyday life.

Family Discipleship and Mission Made Simple (Part 2)

I grew up going to church Sunday after Sunday. Discipleship, if and when it happened, was a series of classes or a 9-week curriculum that we went through. The problem with that was… it didn’t really work.

In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we’ll share Part 2 of seven simple yet important steps to living a lifestyle of discipleship where the gospel speaks good news into and shapes every area of life. Discipleship was always meant to happen with others in community.

What’s keeping you and your people from moving beyond a weekend-to-weekend spirituality into a lifestyle of discipleship and mission with family, friends, and other amazing folks God has brought into your life? Let’s get started.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • How to identify who is “leaning in” to relationship and a possible faith journey with you.
  • How to begin to have simple, daily conversations with the Holy Spirit connected to your discipleship and leading others to faith.
  • Why predictable patterns in your life are key to building relationships on mission.
  • How to get help to start on all of this right away.

Family Discipleship and Mission Made Simple (Part 1)

Our Christian faith was always meant to be vibrant and lived like a family with others—not a once-a-week experience. Missional communities are a proven (biblical) way to engage people in normal rhythms of family discipleship and mission… believers and not-yet-believers alike.

In this episode of the Everyday Disciple Podcast, we’ll share Part 1 of seven simple steps that will help you lead your folks to a “faith in practice” where family life becomes mission and begins to move outward to include others.

These seven, proven steps may seem simple or even a little obvious, but they really work and are just the beginning… There is no limit to how far this will take you if you apply this to your life.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • What keeps a lot of churches and small groups stuck in a “me-focused” mode.
  • The difference between a weekly small group and a true “family on mission”.
  • Why understanding and embracing a bigger gospel is at the center of a missional life.
  • The first three of seven proven steps to make family discipleship and mission simple.
  • How to get help to get started on all of this right away.
